EPA Finds Toxic Pollutants At Ethanol Plants
CBS News reported in 2002 that factories that convert corn into the gasoline additive ethanol are releasing carbon monoxide, methanol and some carcinogens at levels "many times greater" than they promised, the government says. Promoters speak of improved technology that reduces pollution nowadays, so this report from 2002 may not be entirely germane to the local situation. It needs to be considered, nonetheless.
