Soccer facility flack refuses to die

Attempting to keep alive the story on Columbus Crew's desire to have Newark taxpayers provide that soccer team with a facility in Newark, the Advocate has done it again. It has again reported with a straight face that the thing "could attract as many as 500,000 people per year."

It has never explained where that figure came from or how it could be confirmed. Yet over and over the paper has repeated this improbable promoters' dream. Never has the Advocate admitted that just as likely, the facility could attract 20 people per year, or none.

The "news peg" for this exciting news story is that no decision by the Crew management has been made.
