It isn't easy to stand up to the power structure in public as Mark Christenberry did during the recent school board meeting when he stood up against King Richards and fellow board members.
Mark voted to table the motion to hire a city schools' PR mouthpiece that the superintendent insisted on hiring, even in the face of a tidal wave of opposition from the community. Mark said the board should listen to what the community is saying.
The resulting rant by King Richards was caught on video by the Advocate, along with the incredible rationalizations for his support by the Three Puppet People on the school board.
Mark was clearly uncomfortable the whole time and he gets lots of points for just sitting there without saying some of the stuff that he might have liked to say.
