That the accuser in the Duke "rape" case is a liar spotlights the need to change the laws and media policies regarding anonymity of those who accuse others of criminal activity.
This policy was born from the supposed need to encourage the prosecution of rapists while shielding victims from public shame.
Yeah, but ... this is what happens. Crystal Gail Mangum got away with incredible damage to the young men she accused of rape and also to their families.
Blame the incompetents and/or crooks in charge of the legal system. That doesn't change the fact that the lives of the young men who were drug into this mess have been permanently branded.
It may be wishful thinking, but I believe Crystal Gail Mangum would not have been so bold with her lies had she been made to face public scrutiny during the process.
That the public should examine only the individual(s) on one side of such a serious matter because the other side is too pure and fragile is faulty rationale at its worst, and Crystal Gail Mangum proved it to perfection.
