Pardon me for noticing you're unworthy of the Presidency

The man we elected twice to the presidency made this promise upon entering office:

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

If there were ever a President who has made mockery of that oath, it is George W. Bush.

He and his cronies - especially Cheney - have by their arrogance demonstrated how democracy can be skewed nearly to the point of ruin by an ego-absorbed, power-tripping person devoid of morals and honor.

By trampling our system of government and holding the will of the people he serves in contempt, he has inflicted immense harm not just to America's image abroad but also to the collective psyche of citizens.

The entire Scooter Libby affair is another Bush salute with a middle finger to our laws and our expectations for a modicum of trustworthiness. It is one more cause for the immensely deepened distrust by Americans of their government.

  1. Welll put--not quite as biting as Keith Olbermann but.... Even an old-time eastern liberal like myself has been totally shocked and surprised at the actions of these two oilmen whom we (maybe) elected president. I have gone beyond angry to depressed.
