Get a grip on the deer problem: Shoot them

Newark City Council passed an ordinance prohibiting the feeding of deer, but it will do no good as is obvious to anyone who knows the persistence and gluttonous, plundering ways of deer.

Not feeding them is not going to starve them out of Newark. Deer will stay and they will continue to eat whatever they please, particularly, it seems, if they deem it to be of value to humans. They are like rats, and you wouldn't let rats take over your house. Why then let deer take over your lot, your flowers, your shrubs and your garden?

Don't feed them? No, kill them.

I agree with those who speak against bow hunting, however. It is more cruel than a swift, well-aimed bullet to the brain. To me, bow hunting is animal abuse.

There are people who can take care of the deer problem, given the chance. I'm not sure how it works, but I think they lure them to a feeding ground, then sharpshooters open fire after dark.

Deer and humans are not meant to so closely share the same habitat. If folks want to wipe out harassment, waste, and frustration caused by the deer population, as I do, shooting them is the reasonable and humane option.
