Newark School Board proved its incompetence in yet another way when it failed to agree on a person to fill its vacant seat.
Thus was the decision handed to Judge Hoover, who has reopened the field of candidates for all who wish to be considered, an excellent decision.
The judge's choice might influence the NCS tradition of an obstinate, self-centered, and tone-deaf administration - for better or for worse.
No matter who he chooses, it's not going to be the final solution for NCS mismanagement: It can't counteract the votes of the superintendent's Three Puppet People already occupying NCS board chairs.
It presents, instead, to the judge and to the community an opening for another voice of the people to sit beside Mark Christenberry for improved administrative decisions that affect the quality of education and community pocketbook.
Will the judge give the superintendent a fourth puppet or will he anoint a representative of the people who will, with Mark, listen to citizen-taxpayers? The judge will be judged by a very interested community.
