My own comment to my own essay entitled “Advocate rubs our noses in homosex” published at the Advocate site was strangely offensive to the moralistic editors who routinely publish lush homo-promos as family fare.
I had responded to the comment of NerkBuckeye when he suggested that the Advocate should publish “sexual preference announcements. Then anyone could contact the Advocate and they can announce whether they are gay or straight - or if they are ‘switching teams.’”
My response took that idea to a new level when I suggested that such announcements should also include masturbators - who is and who isn’t. Further, I opined, that if we happened on a Newark City Schools board president who masturbated openly as a means to “new freedom” (in the manner of the former NCS board president who came out of the closet on Page One) then the Advocate could likewise feature the masturbating school official in another Page One story.
Does anyone find it telling that this comment was trashed by Advocate gatekeepers?

ReplyDeleteOne poster noted he feels sad for you....well I feel sad for that person because in their quest to demonize you through age discrimination, they demonstrated how shallow and narrow minded they really are; though they professed their youth enabled an open mind.
I wrote to the editors and asked that the deleted comments be restored. I hadn't read the latest ones. So far no restoration or reply. So far, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, assuming it was a mistake. As for the demonizing twits, they don't bother me because where they're coming from and for what purposes is obvious to any reader worth having as a reader. Thanks so much for your support.

Okay, I'll bite. LGBTTIQQ2S?
Well, apparently:
LGBTTIQQ2S means "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgendered, Intersexual, Queer, Questioning, 2-Spirited..."
"2-Spirited" is, I believe, a bisexual Native-American, rather than "too spirited" as in Anne of Green Gables.
I found myself thinking of George M Cohan's old foighting Oirish song — "H-A-double R-I-G-A-N spells Harrigan": "L-G-B-double T-I-double Q-two-S spells . . . Luhgibettyqueuetooess?"
It's like paying extra to get a vanity license plate, and then the DMV gives you the one they would have issued anyway.

ReplyDeleteI must lead a really boring life if I am not, LGBTTIQQ2S. Where's the club and pride parades for boring, working, white, straight, single, women? Do we qualify for some underserved, opressed group? If not can we start one?

ReplyDeleteSeriously, I am beginning to feel like the minority because I am mainstream. Or was mainstream....it is like everyone has to have a label nowadays to feel validated.
