Yesterday I labored through no fewer than 906 words of an Advocate “report” regarding a family complaining about Cedar Hill Cemetery rules. Then I read most of the on-line comments because I wanted to learn why this family believed that decades-old rules shouldn’t apply to them. I wanted to find out why the newspaper would blow this much space on a story that was captured in its entirety by the headline: “Family wishes conflict with Cedar Hill Cemetery rules.”
Later that day, a school-aged pedestrian crossed the street in front of me, against the traffic light. I had to stop to let him by. His convenience conflicted with the rules of the road and therefore did not apply.
Same principle.
