Let's quit being suicidal in the name of R and D

I wrote Tuesday (2/17/09)about my relief that Mr. Obama was making good on his promise to reveal his administration as accountable and transparent - whereupon I was educated about the depth of partisan-politicans hanging out among Licking County blog readers.

I got whup-butt from all over, but none, thankfully, disrespectful or nasty. I loved this one from "sensoredsue" - "Vote Democrat! It's easier than thinking." But the reality of it, judging from most comments here and the recent activities of Congress, is: "Vote Democrat or Republican! It's easier than thinking."

The point is that partisan politics is the all-pervasive wedge that has driven, and is still driving, this country apart and asunder. What we are doing to ourselves in the name of party politics is crazy and suicidal.

Look, I voted for Bizarre President George W. Bush not just once but twice. The blame for that is not because he seemed intelligent and able, but to the Democratic Party for challenging him with Gore and Kelly, who seemed then less intelligent and able. Mine were votes against the apparent ineptitude of Gore and Kelly measured against the ineptitude of Bush.

I voted for Mr. Obama because he promised government that will focus on folks like you and me - one that could be checked and followed and defined and explained. So far he is delivering.

That was my point and I stand by it. Anyone who truly thinks otherwise should visit the links I provided.
