Criminal aliens want their rights

This morning I read at the Dispatch web site “Immigration activists start reform push in Ohio.”

Two hours later I receive one of those e-mails, the facts in which are unattributed, but the thrust of which is on the money. It says:

“If you cross the North Korean border illegally you get 12 years hard labor.

“If you cross the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely.

“If you cross the Afghan border illegally you get shot.

“If you cross the Turkey border illegally you spend the rest of your life in prison.

“If you cross the U.S. border illegally you get ...
“... a drivers license
“... a Social Security card
“... welfare
“... food stamps
“... and free health care!”

I have written about giving our millions of criminal aliens their “rights” many times and you can link to all of them here. But if this subject interests you, please at least read Criminal aliens: The losers are Mexico and Mexicans

Aliens are not the same as settlers

Comments to yesterday’s Advocate essay about Obama’s balloon to legalize criminal aliens sometimes amazed me by their misunderstanding - and mixing - of issues.

For instance, leo21 (Jon Emler) wrote the following: “Bruce, My family came to America in 1732 from Germany. The American Indians didn't invite them and didn't want these white people to take over their land. I just don't understand how people think this land is only for them and keep others out. Fear isn't the answer.”

Here’s my response to that:

This argument implies that because settlers took over from the Indians that now anyone should be free to cross our borders at will, which is what happened in the case of the “criminal aliens” I write about.

If that is indeed your point then consider this: If our nation today were as weak, disorganized, and indefensible as the “nation” of Indians, then today our national language would be Russian or Nazi German and if not that, then Spanish.

It didn’t work out that way. Instead, millions of people - like your family and mine - entered this country legally (as laws developed to define the difference). They built our country into what it is - with labor and tax payments - so that we are able to protect ourselves from Russia and Nazi Germany, for instance, and also may decide who is allowed to cross our borders, and when they may cross, and what they must do to qualify for that privilege.

We pay a huge government a huge price to enforce those decisions, but government will not do that. Instead, it is ignoring our wishes in favor of big businesses who’ve bribed government to allow them cheap, illegal laborers.

I don’t think our ancestors, who obeyed immigration laws - no matter the delays and inconvenience - would be very proud of us if we threw open our borders to anyone who can find a way to get here.

And I think legalizing these millions would further weaken our national economy and national pride. All this aside from further straining a job market from which millions of jobs by U.S. employers have gone to other countries because it is more profitable.

Here comes Obama on criminal aliens

Today President Obama began testing the waters on his plan to legalize the criminal aliens who’ve overrun the United States. Will you buy it, citizen? And if so, what kind of soft-shoe dance by Washington will it require?

For me, he can test us and finagle his voter base and define these people as victims all he chooses. They are criminals because they are in this country illegally. They should be sent back home.

Anything else, and the Presidential honeymoon is over.

Further, as I wrote 7/5/07, Criminal aliens: The losers are Mexico and Mexicans the losers will continue to be Mexico and Mexicans. For other essays and links, go to the box above and search “aliens.”

Thank you Zack Space for goosing Congress on criminal aliens

The incredible travesty against Americans on illegal immigration, wrought by President Bush and his mega-billion buddies, is being met head-on by at least one congressman. That is our own Zack Space (D-18).

Yesterday (3/15/08) Zack sent out the word to his peers that it's time to get off the pot and bring an end to this crisis.

I have for many months been writing about the screwing Bush and the rest of Washington is giving America by letting the invasion by criminal aliens continue. To review:

NO DRUG SMUGGLER LEFT BEHIND! - by Ann Coulter
What's wrong, Bunky?
Zack sent out a news release yesterday that explains the legislation that has been road blocked by a do-less, careless, and unresponsive (except to mega-billionaires) U.S. Congress. Here's what he said:

WASHINGTON, DC – Tired of waiting on the House leadership to address America’s illegal immigration crisis, Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) today called upon them to advance a bill that would help combat the nation’s illegal immigration crisis. Space today joined a number of his colleagues in a letter demanding that Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer bring up pending legislation quickly that strengthens border security, increases interior enforcement, and cracks down on employers who hire illegal immigrants.

This legislation, the bipartisan Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act of 2007 (H.R. 4088), has been stalled since last year.

In the letter, Space and his colleagues pointed out that, “Illegal immigration and border security are high priorities for many Members and our constituents, and we fear that these issues have not been given the proper and necessary consideration in the House of Representatives.”

“My constituents are crying out for action on the illegal immigration issue,” Space said. “There is no doubt that the illegal immigration problem is placing an undue strain on our public resources and our job market.”

“When I traveled to the Mexican border last year, I saw firsthand how easy it is for people to sneak across, and that is completely unacceptable. We need swift and dramatic action to protect both our national security and our job security. I find it difficult to understand the delay,” Space continued.

Congressman Space has represented Ohio's 18th Congressional District since 2007. He is working to restore integrity to the office, expand Ohio's economy, and support renewable energy.

Comment on immigration should be required reading

It seems that no matter how much we, in this flyover state, give honest feedback on illegal immigration to the Hillarys and the Great Deciders, they still don't get it. The worst part of it is that it is the Mexicans themselves who suffer most of all. Read this.

There was an excellent comment to the Advocate's reader forum on the subject of illegal immigration, written in response to a piece entitled "Richardson has the guts to speak truthfully on immigration issues"

This commenter nails it with style and simplicity. It should be mandatory reading, especially for all federal employees.

Here's the full text of that comment:

"All the semantics in the world don't detract from one simple undeniable truth:

"Being an illegal alien makes you a criminal from the second you step foot on this soil, no matter your color, creed, religion or sex. You are not a citizen, you are not American, nor should you be. Your contributions are negated by the fact that you have usurped our laws, and cut in front of the honest people who go about immigrating here legally.

"It's not racism. I don't hate immigrants, I am born of immigrants. I don't hate Mexicans. Few people that oppose illegal immigration do.

"We hate that law-breaking, and a genuine threat to the word of law and our national security is taken so lightly or worse endorsed by sickening, greedy people who either want cheap labor, or votes.

"Illegal immigrants are not good for us, because they undermine the fabric of our society.

"Immigration: Good.

"Illegal Immigration: Bad.

"So simple a liberal can understand it. Maybe."

Zack Space report card so far: Big Attaboy

Zack Space has been voted one of the most independent members of Congress by the non-partisan Congressional Quarterly, meaning he's likely to face off with House leaders on key issues and follow his conscience.

As he put it in his recent mailing to constituents, "Congressman Space has differed with the majority on a number of issues, including pushing for tougher national security measures, preserving gun owners' rights, and demanding tough immigration laws. Space has also taken tough, principled stands in his leadership on greater funding for stem cell research, the most sweeping ethics reform changes in the history of Congress, and lower taxes for working families."

It seems, so far, that he's not just one more political hack who has fooled voters, but is, instead, the person we thought he was.

For his thoughts on illegal immigrants, go here. If you're not among those business managers who profit from labor of criminal immigrants, you're going to like what you read.

His statement on the House floor regarding Bush's "surge" is worth your time, too. Read it here.

It also pleases me that Zack has taken it upon himself to speak directly to constituents through mailings such as the one I received this week. People need to know what he's doing for us, a job we can no longer rely on the media to perform. So he's doing it himself, and he isn't waiting until the next election to begin.

Attaboy, Zack.

Criminal aliens: The losers are Mexico and Mexicans

I have spoken harshly in this journal several times about Mexicans who enter the country illegally, work here illegally, and stay here illegally. They are criminals, as I have called them at every opportunity. I want them to go home. All of them. Now.

The irony is that I really like Mexicans and Mexico, what I know of them; Kelly Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, for instance. Nobody could be more personable or likable or enviable. The Mexicans I have met over the years as individual citizens seem easy-going, happy and non-threatening, and the culture of Mexico intrigues me.

Individual Mexicans, like individual Americans, can't be blamed because President Bush and the Mexican government have conspired to break our laws. Encouraging illegal immigrants to work here, enriching U.S. businesses who thus avoid paying standard U.S. wages wasn't planned by individual Mexicans anymore than by U.S. citizens. The plight of the average Mexican is deplorable - read Michael Reagan's essay about that subject.

Mexicans surely know as well as we do that this crazy system of cheap labor wasn't born because "Americans won't do this kind of work," as we've been tirelessly told by Washington. It's because Americans won't - can't afford to - work for less because of the costs of citizenship and permanent residency.

Illegal Mexicans ship their earnings back to Mexico, which is, without question, indirect foreign aid that directly subsidizes U.S. businesses. But being an illegal laborer in the U.S. isn't an easy skate. Chances are excellent that Mexicans would much prefer to accept our foreign aid as a gift, no labor involved, as do other nations around the globe.

Americans resent this on-going slap in the face because of what it is, who is benefitting from it, and most of all how it's being done and by whom. It is most unfair and unfortunate that the real losers here are Mexico and Mexicans. People who should be perceived as our friends - friends in need just now - are instead perceived as thieves, criminals, beggars, and usurpers of our economic and legal systems. All of it thanks to governments in both countries who think the law should not apply and that citizens can be duped forever.

Advocate reaches old milestone

The Advocate reached a really old milestone today when it reported about the votes of Ohio's two senators. This appeared on its web site for a while, and likely is included in today's print edition.

What a refreshing treat to at last learn something from the local newspaper about what our representatives in Washington are doing for us and to us.

This ground-breaker was occasioned by the vote yesterday on Crazy George's last-ditch effort to legitimize the 10-20 million criminal immigrants now visiting us from Mexico. Both Ohio senators voted, for once, in favor of justice and common sense by siding with the majority to kill the immigration bill.

And the Advocate reported this!

Not that it will ever happen again, but think of what changes might occur in the way local, state, and federal politicians vote if their votes were publicized, as they once were, in the local newspaper.

By the way, nobody has zeroed in on what problems in Mexico are causing all these immigrants as has Michael Reagan, whose column was printed in The Advocate a few days ago. You can read it from Reagan's web site here.

Criminal immigrants, courtesy of The Great Conniver

Only one person I know of has been able to solve the problems of high gasoline prices and immigrants running amuck. Here's how he did it, according to his Internet journal post this morning:

"I have hired illegal immigrants to push my truck. They're plentiful, and they're cheaper than buying gas. Plus I pay them in pesos so they have to go home to spend their money."

Our President, The Great Conniver, is also at work on the problem of criminal immigrants. Ann Coulter has carefully analyzed the big picture and I've archived it for Tea Party readers here.

Zack is sticking by his promises

Big holla for Zack Space, D-Dover, because he has been in office since January 4th and he still has clean jeans and a good attitude, as reported here April 16th.

He said then, in a mailing to constituents, "This is your government ... I am here to help you get efficient and respectful treatment ... and to ensure your tax dollars are working for you."

Unlike the many other representatives we've sent to Washington, he has not been converted by the party politics that prevent congressmen from serving voters back home.

A recent report in The Advocate about Space's voting record demonstrated his willingness and ability to buck party leadership on issues such as "national security measures, gun owners' rights and immigration laws. Space also supported increased funding for stem cell research, ethics reforms and lower taxes."

He scored 11th lowest out of 233 Democrats on party unity votes, and that kind of independence is exactly what Newark, Licking County, and America need.

I think we have a winner.

What's wrong, Bunky?

The staff writers at Editor & Publisher asked "What's going on?" in view of a new surge in American angst.

Authors of the article seemed baffled because "Gallup reports today a sudden plunge in its regular 'satisfaction' index. Only 25% of Americans now say they satisfied with the state of their country -- down 8% in just one month -- and one of the lowest ever measured.

"'The current 25% satisfaction level is very low by historical standards,' Gallup explained. 'Since Gallup first asked this question in 1979, the average percentage of Americans saying they are satisfied with conditions in the country is 43%.'"

Let's see. What could possibly have put Americans in such a funk?

Could it possibly be no-longer-affordable gasoline?

Could it be an out-of-control congress and a crazy president?

Perhaps it has something to do with idea that Americans know they were lied to about the war, and are still being lied to, we have repeatedly sent that message but we remain stuck another Vietnam with no light at the end of the tunnel? Meanwhile, our youngsters spill blood for government which views itself as having no allegiance whatever to middle-class tax-paying voting citizens. Could that be it?

Could it be that government has given and still is giving this country over to millions of criminal aliens for the sake of business profits?

Could it be that about one in three Americans now are considered "minorities," causing much unpleasant socio-economic upheaval, not to mention the burden to taxpayers of vast welfare entitlements and unnecessary overcrowding?

Could it be that corruption in government, lying politicians, taxes for pork, lobbyists who determine how our legislators vote, stupid tax laws, and on and on until everyone is just beat down and there's nothing to be proud of anymore and nobody we can trust? And no Presidential candidates that are a bit better than recent failures who've occupied that office? Could that have something to do with it?

I think it might.

If you care, then write

Are you bothered by $3.15 gasoline? Are you bothered by the war? Are you bothered by criminal aliens still running loose in the U.S.? Are you bothered by the monumental tax burden and the arrogance with which government wastes that money?

Congress.org will provide information about all the legislators who represent you in federal and state government. For e-mail links and specifics on individuals representing the 43055 zip code, go to Elected Officials-Ohio (43055) page.

Writing a letter to each of them would be a good way to spend part of your Sunday. You should bookmark this site and make it part of your daily reading.

A couple interesting things I gleaned from a quick reading this morning:

Zack Space is a co-sponsor of HR 6, a proposal that would reduce oil-company tax breaks.

George Voinovich is 10th from the bottom in power rankings of the Senate.
